On the 23rd of August, the first German Alkemy was organized in Aschaffenburg.10 players fought intense battles for the Control of the resources of Mornea.
After the players had arrived, and took some coffee and snacks, the organization team deemed this first Alkemy tournament open at 10:00. The first scenario was “controlling the Jin Stones”, the classical and well known scenario. On the five tables the battles quickly developed in very tactical battles.
The second scenario was „The Blessing of the Beathacrann“, a scenario written by the German Alkemy fans. An experiment of Leodegarius had a very interesting and surprising outcome when the peaceful inhabitants of a small Avalonian town were transformed into ravenous beasts. The goals of the players were to slay 6 of these creatures, each kill granting a victory point. The scenario became heavily close combat orientated where good tactical sense and some luck was required, since these creatures had the “Terrifying” skill. It happened quite some times that one player took the final hit points, thereby killing a creature when it had been already heavily wounded by the previous player. Thus an expression came into being for this scenario, the “Killsteal”.
After this second game, it was time for Lunch. The players ate and discussed the results of the first battles while the orgas looked at the armies and assigned the painting score.
The third scenario was again „controlling the Jin Stones“, and again the battles were extremely fought for.
The last scenario was „The Chests“, that was taken from the Chronicles of Mornea. It showed the interest and variety of the scenarized game, since the tactical aspects are extremely different from one scenario to another.
After the final battle, the winner was finally known: Markus “Schattenschwinge” Wesemeir managed to win the trophy. But since that was not enough for him, he also received the price for the best painted army!
The day was an excellent experience for all the participants, such that the next tournaments in Germany are currently being planned.
The war for the Control over the resources of Mornea is far from finished!
